Typography is the art of arranging letters and text in a way that makes the copy legible, clear, and visually appealing to the reader.

The videos below are videos on learning the basics of typography found on YouTube. I know typography is important for designers so I wanted to learn more about it. I already knew about three basic kinds of typeface: serif, sans-serif, and decorative. How you can adjust the fonts weight making it bold, semibold, light etc or make it italics. The videos I watched helped me understand the basics of typography more, learning the terminology and a little history of typography changed over the centuries.

What I learned
Kerning -the spacing between letters
Leading – the space between lines of text
Tracking – the overall spacing between groups of letters
Anatomy of a letter:
Baseline: The invisible line on which text rests.
Ascender: The part of a lowercase letter that extends above the x-height (e.g., the top of ‘h’ or ‘l’).
Descender: The part of a character that extends below the baseline (e.g., the tail of ‘g’ or ‘p’).
X-height: The height of the lowercase ‘x’ in a font, a key measurement of a font’s height.
