Photo Retouch

The assignment of my Digital Imaging class is to learn how to retouch a damage photo. I’ve been practicing the basic retouching and reconstruction tools on PSD.

This is the original photo

I mainly use the Healing Brush Tool and the Spot Healing Brush Tool to restore the Photo.

On the Healing Brush Tool, I switch between Normal and Replace Mode to blend the photo better.

This is my progress so far:

Progress as of 9/14/2023

I got rid of the main creases and tears of the photo. I still have to fix the smaller creases and remove the orange spots.

Results from 9/16/2023

I manage to get rid of the orange spots. By using the replace mode on the healing brush and clone stamp tool on more detailed parts. I added a bit of contrast to the Photo as well.

I end up adding a Photo Restoration Filter on the image. It gives it a smoother look compared to how patchy my last attempt was. Everything looks more define.

Results| With the help of the YouTube videos provided in my course and looking through other videos on YouTube as well. I was able to succeed and learn the tools needed for the restoration. Learning all the basic tools was a challenge but was worth it. The healing brush tool was the main tool I use to blend everything and switching it from normal and replace is what made the photo come together. Of course editing the contrast, adjusting the brightness and trying a filter were the finishing touches. I am proud of myself and how the final results turned out. This project definitely made me more interested in learning photoshop.
