What makes a good platformer?

A good platformer is defined by responsive and fun movement, excellent level design, and a clear visual style. It needs controls that are tight and allow for skilled play, while also using mechanics in interesting ways to present challenges that are fair and rewarding. 

As I continue creating my game on Godot, I’m trying to learn more tips on what makes a good platformer.

I continue to create more assets for my game to give it more detail and a lively feel. But I need to work more on the mechanics and controls on making it a better for feel for the user.

These videos give me a better understanding on how to improve the movements of my character, I just need to be able to implement it to my work.
